Drug Free Workplace Program
It is estimated that one-third of all workers’ in the United States is impaired at work at one time or another.
Impairment, whether it is by the use of alcohol, illegal drugs, over the counter medicines, has a negative impact on performance and production.
Statistics indicate that drug users are more likely to get injured on the job, damage equipment and injure others.
By implementing a Drug Free Workplace you reduce loss exposures because:
- Labor pools will be improved through pre-employment screening.
- Workers’ compensation insurance may offer a credit if you have the program.
- Improve production and the company image as your employees are drug free.
- Claims may be able to be denied if an injured worker has a positive drug test.
- Some carriers will pay the cost of the drug test for post accident testing.
Drug Free Workplaces are relatively simple to implement. There is a set procedure that must be followed as not to infringe on employee rights. To defend your DFWP Program certain information must be communicated.
