What OSHA Standards do we need?
General Industry Definition - according to the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 1910; The Williams-Steiger Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 requires every employer that affects commerce shall provide a workplace establishment free of all recognizable hazards that are causing or that are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees. An establishment is a physical location where business is conducted or where services or industrial operations are performed. The OSH Act requires employers to comply with promulgated occupational safety and health standards. The OSH Act also authorizes the Department of Labor to conduct inspections and to issue citations and propose penalties for alleged violations of the OSH Act.
Construction Definition - according to the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 1926: It shall be the responsibility of the employer to initiate and maintain occupational safety and health programs as they are necessary for any and all work of construction, alteration, and/or repair including painting and decorating. This will include erection of new electric distribution lines and equipment, and the alteration, conversion and improvement of the existing lines.
