Vessel Operators Safety Program
The operation of a vessel and employment of Masters and Members of a crew create significant liability exposures under the Federal Jones Act.
Unlike other forms of workers’ compensation coverage, Masters and Members of a crew, if injured, can sue the employer in tort (a civil wrong) under the Jones Act for failure of the vessel owner/operator to provide a seaworthy vessel, a trained and competent crew and other doctrines of negligence.
To reduce the cost of risk a safety educated Captain and Crew is essential.
